Conman brought to Imphal by Porompat PS team

Kangujam Karnajit alias KK Singh (30), who was arrested by a combined team of Special Cell of Delhi Police and Manipur Police in Delhi on Monday in connection with three different cases, has been brought to Imphal on Tuesday.
After parading Karnajit s/o Ibotombi of Bashikhong Wangkhei Loumanbi in front of newspersons in a press meet held at the conference hall of SP Imphal East on Tuesday, IGP K Jayanta informed that Karnajit, who is mentioned as an accused in three different cases taken up by Porompat PS, had fled Manipur and was subsequently declared as an absconder by CJM Imphal East in 2016 .
On Monday, he was arrested from Maharani Bagh area of New Delhi along with a mobile phone, documents, laptop and various other items.
Karnajit was produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Patiala House, New Delhi, which granted a 5-day transit remand, following which he was brought to Imphal on Tuesday.
He will be produced before CJM Imphal for further course of legal action, the IGP added.
Giving brief details of the cases filed against Karnajit, the IGP said that an FIR was filed at Porompat PS against the accused for non-payment of fees to a firm which was engaged for organising an event in 2016 .
Another FIR was registered the same year by a building owner against the accused for fraudulently selling off his (building owner) building in Porompat.
In 2021, a Nepali citizen made a report against Karnajit for scamming him, which led to registration of another FIR by Porompat PS.
As such, CJM Imphal East declared Karnajit an absconder in connection with a criminal complaint case no.6 of 2016 filed under Section 406/417/420/427/120-B/120 -A/107-34 of IPC, the IGP informed.
