The Kuki National Organisation today while strongly reacting to the statement of the MAFYF in connection with the recent incident of harassing villagers of Nongsum and Khamenlok appeared in some Imphal based newspapers said that the body (MAFYF) having no its branch or functionaries in the hill areas has "no right nor mandate to condemn" the incident.
A statement of the outfit signed by Lenin H Kuki, secretary, Information and Publicity, KNO stated that MAFYF must noted "as there exists no branches or functionaries of its own in the hill districts, it neither has the right nor mandate to condemn, warn or speak against the hill people, particularly the vanguard of the Kuki's rights and interests, the KNO".
The KNO strongly discards the irrational press statement of MAFYF appeared in some of the Imphal-based news dailies on September 2 last regarding the hardships befallen upon the innocent villagers of Khamenlok Kuki and Nongshum in the aftermath of the combing operation launched by the security forces against valley-based militants, it stated.
Reiterating that KNO operates not in Naga, Meitei or anyone's lands, but in its own ancestral lands, both in India and Burma, the statement said MAFYF has no legitimate right to threaten or shoo away the KNO through their sinister propaganda.
Rather it only reflects their craze and hunger for occupying and dominating the blue mountainous ranges, which had been the abode of Kuki legends viz,- Galngam and Hangshai, Zonlhing and Nanglhun, Khupting and Ngambom, to name a few.
MAFYF is trying to take advantage of undeniably, internal bickering and differences cropped up amongst the Kuki groups off and on and appealed to all, particularly Khamenlok Kuki and Nongshum villagers to be vigilant and let not themselves brush off by the divisive forces, whose sole purpose lies in creating 'communal discord' and 'social conflict'.
The statement of the MAFYF is amount to abort the peace process at any cost which the outfit is under process with the government through negotiating table.
So, the general public ought to remain calm and peaceful amidst fear psychosis emanated out of conflict situation between the state and non-state actors, the statement added.
