Various tribal bodies today urged the state government to begin repairing works of the Tamenglong-Haflong road which has been sanctioned under the Special Plan Assistant (SPA) in the Work programme of 2008-09. The Village Authority Chairmen's Council, Tousem, Zemi Naga Council, Manipur, Tousem Headquarter Students Union and Zeliangrong Students Union threatened to impose bandh on NH 53 if the construction work of the road does not begin by September 15 next.
Secretary, Zemi Naga Council, Manipur, Ngaikeulang Newne said that an amount of Rs 53 lakhs have been withdrawn on June 22 last for the construction work of this road.
But no work is done still.
Peoples are facing a big problem as the condition of the road is far from plying condition, he said.
He appealed the concern authority to take up necessary action and begin the work by September 15 next.
If the authority fails to begin the construction work by the deadline, they will impose bandh on the NH 53.
