Tamenglong, September 29 2018:
The Kuilong Area Chairman Association has expressed serious concern and apprehension at the State government's approval and subsequent laying of foundation stone for establishment of a Model Residential School at Langmei Village, Tamei, by Education Minister Th Radheshyam Singh on September 12 stating that the government's decision on the location of the project is "hushed up, biased and lacks wisdom".
The association stated that the decision has "disappointed the people of Kuilong area" as the said project was first proposed for Chaton-Il (Kabangning) village by the association through its memorandum to the Chief Minister N Biren Singh on June 10, 2017, a copy of the same was also formally submitted to the local MLA at his residence by the association.
However, to the utter shock of the association, the same project was found to have been comfortably diverted and shifted to Langmei Village which is already surrounded by nine well-functioning private and Government Schools including two Higher Secondary Schools.
The association maintained that setting up of another residential School in such location where there are already "more than enough" number of good schools is "neither strategic nor the need ofthe hour".
It has become apparent therefore, the selection ofthe site is biased and fishy and not based on the 'necessity and demand' ofthe people, it added.
The association expressed disappointment at the approval of the project in the present location and appealed the Chief Minister, Education Minister and local MLA to re-evaluate the matter.
