Works Minister lauds works of CRPF, assures all help

Acknowledging role of CRPF personnel helping ferry fuel and cooking gas stock requirements for the State, Works and Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh has assured all possible assistance in infrastructure development of camps of the para-military forces stationed in Manipur.
Speaking at a felicitation cum road inauguration programme hosted by 69 Bn CRPF at its Mantripukhri headquarters today to honour the Minister's initiative to black-top the battalion campus, Dr Ratankumar noted that along with providing security to vital Government and public installations in and around the State capital, 69 Bn has been taking an important role in escorting oil and LPG carriers of Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
Opining that CRPF battalion truly deserves infrastructure development as the battalion personnel are being engaged in various activities under the Government, he affirmed that every aspects would be looked into for extending further infrastructure development programme to 69 Bn as well as other units.
Dr Ratankumar also lauded efforts of the Commandant 69 Bn Rakesh Kumar Singh for his pro-active approach towards development and assured him (CO) of all possible help from the Government of Manipur.
Soon after his arrival the Minister was accorded 'guard of honour' by the 69 Bn personnel followed by Dr Ratankumar assessing existing infrastructure inside the battalion campus.
He also unveiled a commemorative stone to formally inaugurate the newly laid battalion roads and later interacted with officers and jawans of the unit.
The event which had IGP CRPF (Manipur & Nagaland Sector) SP Singh as the guest of honour was also attended by PWD Chief Engineer M Lokendro.
Honouring the Minister with a presentation of memento, the IGP also pledged CRPF's unstinted commitment in the development of Manipur and highlighted that personnel of 69 Bn are being stationed to guard public facility along with providing security escorts for LPG and IOC tankers with other CRPF units.
Welcoming the dignitaries, 69 Bn CO Rakesh Kumar highlighted that for nearly four decades of existence the unit's Mantripukhri headquarters was besieged with absence of basic infrastructure with the personnel made to endure all sorts of inconveniences, particularly during the monsoons.
However, with the recent infrastructure development, including black-topping of the battalion roads, the condition has improved significantly, said the CO and expressed gratitude to the Works Minister and the IGP for their endeavours.
It was not very long ago, when officers and jawans of the unit had to spent sleepless nights under heavy rains and strong winds, days clearing and cleaning the campus and surroundings, walk on muddy, dirt and flooded roads to work everyday, said Rakesh Kumar while terming as fortunate 69 Bn getting an all-weather road and brand new look of the campus.
He also drew the Minister's attention on the need for more infrastructure development in the battalion headquarters.
