Unity is needed to save society: Biren

MLA Nongthombam Biren on Thursday stated that there will be an impending difficult situation if people of the State fail to unite and save the society from extinction.
He was speaking at the 5th foundation day of monthly journal Inner Voice (Nungseng Wa) at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
Attending the function as Chief Guest, MLA Biren said that the Manipur society is entering into a difficult phase dogged by number of issues.
"At this stage, people need to save the society through unity and integration", stated Biren.
The MLA mentioned that politicians who are against the people and the land should leave politics.
He also reiterated that the three bills passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly on August 31 last were aimed at protecting the indigenous people of the State.
Government of India and NSCN (IM) has already signed the peace accord.
However, people of the State still need to be vigilant as the contents of the accord are still yet to be made public, added Biren.
Attending the function as President AMWJU President Wangkhemcha Shyamjai said that media has to play a big role in a democratic country.
Media persons have no friends or enemy but only reveals the truth and tells it to the people, added Shyamjai.
The function was attended by Managing Editor of Inner Voice Editor Joy Chingakham as Guest of Honour.
The first issue of the fifth volume of the monthly journal was published during the function.
