Imphal, October 07 2020:
An asymptomatic COVID-19 positive person cannot spread the virus to another person 10 days after he/she has been tested positive because the virus gets weaker within the period of 10 days, claimed the Health Department.
The Health Department made this announcement after some inmates of Lamboi Khongnangkhong COVID Care Centre told The Sangai Express that around 40 of them who have completed 10 days at the Centre including some who had gone back home were found COVID-19 positive on re-test.
COVID-19 can survive within human body for 90 days but it gets very weak and loses its capability to spread to another person after 10 days, said one official of Health Department.
It is advisable for COVID-19 positive people to get themselves admitted to hospitals or COVID care centres if they are suffering from cancer and other co-morbid health conditions, the official added.
