Imphal, October 07 2020:
Former CAF&PD Minister, Karam Shyam has lambasted the statement of a body namely 'Youth Alert Langthabal (YAL)' in the media recently saying the body lacks maturity and is seemingly acting on the behest of some individuals.
Speaking to media persons at Lilong Chajing Mairenkhong community hall over the 'misleading' news, the MLA of the Langthabal Assembly Constituency said that the news was irrelevant and the statement of secretary of the so called body, YAL was delusive.
It is learnt that the secretary was acting on the instruction of some individuals who have vested interests, he said.
He would not sink himself to their level and stretch the conversation, he said while adding that he however would not let the people of Langthabal AC and Manipur take him wrong for things that he have not done.
Regarding the case of alleged disappearance of rice from FCI godown in Dimapur as mentioned by YAL in its note of gratitude addressed to the Chief Minister, the MLA clarified the case is being handled by CBI.
And regarding the alleged diversion of rice quota of Pherzawl district, the MLA said that it was not during his tenure that the incident happened.
The charges were hurled by the secretary of YAL under the influence of some individuals who have no knowledge about the cases, he said while adding that they have no work other than trying to discredit him by linking him with irrelevant issues.
He further asserted that, as a CAF&PD Minister, ensured NFSA rice to all beneficiaries and PMGKAY rice from the month of April to all.
Relevant Government records for rice are also available, he said.
He, however admitted that there were some issues of shortage and untimely distribution of rice were highlighted in the media but said that the concerned department had rarely received written complaints regarding the issue.
Some beneficiaries might have not also received their due share owing to politicization in some Assembly segments, he continued.
While highlighting the progress and the achievements he had made when he was the Minister for CAF&PD, the MLA also said that every issue was discussed and settled under the supervision of Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan.
He further clarified that he had not made any remark regarding the border pillar issue that would harm or hurt the sentiments of the Kwatha villagers.
He had only reprimanded the concerned officials of the district administration over the issue, he continued.
