Lamka, June 03 2014:
Hardly a week after Director of Education (S), Government of Manipur H.Deleep Singh instructed ZEO Churachandpur to take stringent actions against absenteeism and substitute engagement of teachers, the SSA schools namely Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vedyalaya (KGBV) and Bridge Residential Schools were found to be in a dismal condition during an inspection conducted by a media team.
Both the residential schools located in Tuilaphai village, under Henglep Sub-division of Churachandpur district reportedly have eleven government teachers but none of them were found during the inspection.
On the other hand, 10 substitute teachers were found teaching the 146 students in these two schools.
A part-time government teacher and head in-charge Ginsuanmang Hangshing informed media persons that both the schools are run under SSA-RTE Scheme.
The KGBV Residential School has 100 students and the Bridge residential school which was established in 2013 has 65 students.
But from the dismal condition of the two schools, it was very clear that none of the provisions to be ensured under Right to Education Act have been enforced in these schools in the remote hilly village.
It may be mentioned that the State Director of Education (S) had instructed Zonal Education Officer and all heads of educational institutions in Churachandpur district to take stringent measures for ensuring regular attendance of teachers in their respective educational institutions particularly in the rural and remote areas of the district on May 26 last.
