Preventive measures against JE undertaken at Senapati

Locals of Punanamei (Robvedzii) village, Senapati district, were given awareness as well as supplied with Belladona-200 to protect against Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and other vector borne diseases today.
The event was organised by the 10 bedded AYUSH Unit of Senapati district under the Directorate of Ayush and Robvedzii Union.
Speaking to media persons, PHE Minister Loshi Dikho said that dishonestly and insincerity among the Government officials and staff are the main cause for the failure of the developmental benefits to reach the common people.
He then lauded the Ayush Directorate officials for acting swiftly and organising the distribution of medicines to protect the people again the vector borne diseases.

He further appealed the people of the remote areas to not just wait for Government aid but to be pro active and realise that they are also included in the projects and initiatives taken up by the Government for the welfare of the people.
During the event which was participated by more than 8000 people from 5 villages near Mao, Ayush Director Dr L Promila, Senapati District Hospital MO in-charge Dr Kholi Arini Ruth and Punanamei village chairman Adharii Kaisii were also present as well.
Ayush Director Dr L Promila said that Belladona-200 is a drug which has been approved by WHO for protection against JE .
This drug is useless if taken after one has been affected and as such it is to be consumed when there is an outbreak.
One also need to take proper precaution not to get bitten by mosquitoes as well, she said, adding that there is no known cure for JE till date.
During the event, Dr Kholi Ruth informed the gathering about the consumption of Belladona-200 .
