General strike cripples normal life in Kak, Bpr, Tbl

Kak/Bpr/Tbl, September 02 2019:
State-wide general strike called in connection with the suspicious death of Babysana crippled normal life in different parts of Kakching District today.
Apart from some private vehicles, passenger vehicles stayed off the road during the general strike, road were blocked in different parts of the district, Govt offices witnessed low attendance and schools remain closed.
Major markets in the district including Kakching, Kakching Lamkhai, Pallel, Lamkhai Keithel Wabagai�Hiyanglam, Kakching Khunou, Waikhong, Sugnu etc, wore deserted look and shops remain closed.
Unwanted incidents have not been reported so far during the bandh.

Meanwhile, in support of the bandh, a sit-in protest was staged at Kakching Keithel demanding swift delivery of justice in the death of Babysana.
The protest was organized by Kakching Keithel Apunba Ema Lup in association with AMSU Kakching District Committee.
Bishnupur: The state-wide 48 hrs bandh called in connection with the mysterious death of Babysana also affected normal life in different parts of Bishnupur district.
Major markets in Bishnupur district wore a deserted look at Kumbi, Moirang, Ningthoukhong, Bishnupur, Oinam, Nambol and Kwakta during the bandh as women vegetable vendors did not turn up to sell their products while all the shops remain closed.
Govt offices witnessed low attendance, schools, colleges remain closed and Inter-District and Inter-Village Passenger Service vehicles viz Bus, Winger, Tata Magic, Iris, Auto etc stayed off the road during the bandh but some private vehicles were seen plying on the road.
In support of the bandh, women folks blocked road using wooden bench at Kumbi and Moirang markets since early morning.
No untoward incidents have been reported during the bandh.
Thoubal: The state-wide 48 hrs general strike disturbed normal life in Thoubal district.
During the bandh, Thoubal, Wangjing and Yairipok markets wore deserted look and shops remain closed.
Passenger vehicles stayed off the road.
Oil pump, schools and many Bank also remain closed.
Howerver, Govt offices at Mini Secreteriat Thoubal and District Transport Office witnessed full attendance.
Strict security measures were put in place by District Police in different points of Thoubal district to thwart any unwanted incidents.
