On the Raising Day of the Territorial Army the 165 INF Bn Territorial Army (H&H) (Assam Manipur Terrierds) today organised a free medical camp at their camp complex at Bonlongdai village one kilometre from Nungba police station.
People thronged the camp from morning till evening, and it was expected atleast 500 patients could have been benefited the by camp.
Doctors said no major health problems were reported in the camp.
Col PS Chhonkar, SM, Commandant 11 Assam Rifles who looks after the Territorial Army today inspected the medical camp.
The two deputed doctors in the camp were from Laimakhong.
Talking to reporters one patient, Sarah 45 w/o Peiningdai of Bonlongdai said the camp was very helpful since she was very poor and she could not afford to go to the CHC Nungba for treatment.
'I am getting a free check up and free medicines here', Sarah said.
Kanamdun Kamei 68 from Nungba said that the free medical camp really benefited the people in the surounding area as there is only one doctor posted in the CHC Nungba.
Unrelated to the camp locals complained that they have not received any PDS materials like SK oil, AAY, APL and BPL rice and Angawadi mid day meal for the past
eight months.
They also pointed that the lone BSNL mobile service stopped its service two months back.
Appreciating the Territorial Army for organising the free medical, they urged 165 INF Bn of TA to organised more free medical camp in the near future.
Despite inclement weather around 500 patients turned up to avail of the facilities in the camp.
