Foundation stone laid

Foundation stone for Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agricultural Science was laid today at Utlou in Bishnupur district.
An inaugural function for commencement of classes of the institute was also organised.
The function was graced by Agriculture Minister V Hangkhalian as chief guest; Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University Professor Adya Prasad Pandey as president; Joint Director of ICAR NEH Region Manipur Centre, Dr Narendra Prakash; Director of Manipur University CDC Professor Th Ratankumar; ex-Union Minister Th Chaoba and ex-MLA Dr Nimaichand Luwang as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Hangkhalian said that setting up of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agricultural Science at Utlou can be termed as a landmark achievement in education sector of the State.
He announced that classes of the institute will be commenced from August 16 at the old building.
He also informed that the institute will be affiliated to Manipur University.
Expressing hope that many students would seek admission in the institute instead of pursuing courses in agriculture field outside the State, the Minister claimed that agriculture sector of the State would witness a remarkable change by 2022 .
