NSUC conducts mass rally, submits memorandum to CM

A mass rally was taken out by Naga Students Union Chandel (NSUC) today against the biased treatment of the State Government towards the functioning and workings of Government’s institutions in Chandel district .
The rally was organised to urge the State Government to take up initiatives and measures for the inhabitants residing in the district .
Numerous students and members of various CSOs took active part in the rally which began from Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School till the Deputy Commissioner, Chandel complex .
NSUC president L Manahring, general secretary Kalenchung Shongsir, Naga Chief Association, Chandel president TS Ruwngwar, Chandel Naga Peoples Organisation caretaker Modun Charanga and Naga Women Union, Chandel president Bliss Langhu submitted a memorandum, addressed to Chief Minister and authority concerned, to DC, Chandel Krishnakumar .
Meanwhile, Jafou bazar and shops remained closed during the mass rally .
After listening to the pleas of the people, Krishnakumar assured to assist in transforming their demands into action at the earliest and sought cooperation from the people .
Speaking to media persons at DC complex, NSUC vice president SK Joshep stated that the rally was held after numerous grievances of the people of Chandel district were continuously neglected by the State Government .
He stated that the people of Chandel have been deprived of fresh drinking water since the flood of 2015 and the authority concerned has turned a blind eye whenever the matter is brought up to them .
The sole college in Lambung, United college, which has the strength of 626 students, has not been functioning properly since the transfer of lecturers from a total of 26 lecturers which was present at the college, he stated and urged the State Government to send the required lecturers to the college at the earliest .
Regarding the allotment of students from outside Chandel district, the JNV Chandel school, which has more than 100 students outside Chandel, has demeaned the education for Chandel students, he asserted and demanded an immediate transfer of the school Principal .
Nearly 72 Chandel villages have come under Sugnu, Waikhong, kakching and Thoubal police station which has caused immense hardship to the people and the Union demanded that these villages should come under Chandel police station
He continued by urging the Government to construct the FCI godown which has been planed before and also added that the Chandel people are against the building of multipurpose dam across Chakpi river
The Union also urged the authority concerned to repair the Chandel-Sugnu road which connects the two sub division of Chandel district namely Chandel and Chakpikarong .
He added that the medical superintendent and sister in charge of the Chandel District Hospital have been absent for a long time and urged the State Government to take up necessary action against the mentioned staff.
