Chandel, October 29 2018:
The Kuki Chiefs' Association Chandel and All Manipur Border Area Development Association have held an emergency joint meeting yesterday regarding the Border Area Development Programme (BADP) tender notice dated October 18 of the Deputy Commissioner Chandel.
A statement issued jointly by the associations said that the meeting unanimously resolved not to participate in the tender floated by the DC Chandel since the said tender guideline "severely affect the age old rights and tradition of the Kuki Chiefs" .
The statement signed by president KCA Chandel Shokhomang Haokip, secretary Lhunkhomang Khongsai and secretary AMBADA Jangthang Mate also alleged that as per Ministry of Home Affairs, there is no guideline to tender the BADP works.
"It is the State Government which took the decision of tendering the BADP works," the associations said condemning and appealing the Government to 'revoke the Cabinet decision at the earliest in the interest of the Kuki Chief in particular and other stakeholders in general' .
It also appealed all registered contractors/bidders who have collected the tender form of the BADP works of Chandel district not to submit their forms and cautioned that those who are found violating the joint meeting decision will be "dealt accordingly" .
