'Refrain from taking law into hands; let Court do its course'

A newly built District & Sessions Court building inside Churachandpur District Court Complex at Tuibong was inaugurated today by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Ibobi said that the government will try to renovate Churachandpur Jail which was stopped functioning for a while at the earliest to facilitate judiciary works in the district and announced that lock up of Churachandpur Police Station which is used for detention of criminals will also be repaired.
The CM maintained that the Churachandpur Jail will have to be functioned effectively as individuals who proved accused of any crime in District & Session Court Churachandpur which starts functioning from today will be lodged in Churachandpur Jail, the nearest jail from the court.

Given its importance, the government is making efforts to ensure that the jail does not lack any facility, Ibobi added.
Conceding that the democratic system of the country will be strengthened only after legislature, executive and judiciary which are the three pillars of democracy work in parallel, the CM asserted that development works in the society would bear fruit only after judiciary system functions freely without any disturbances.
If executive strictly abide by the law, there is no room for court to intervene.
In the eye of law, all citizen including Prime Minister and Chief Minister are equal.
The court is there for looking after those who works against the law, Ibobi noted.
Calling upon the people in every section to cooperate functioning of District & Session Court Churachandpur as it was set up to deliver justice to people irrespective of caste, religion and creed, the CM appealed to the people to refrain from taking law into hands and let the court do it courses in accordance to rule of law. Ibobi went on to assert that the government is also putting efforts to set up similar court in other districts of the State to facilitate functioning of judiciary in the districts.
Health & Family Welfare Minister, Phungzathang Tonsing who was present at the occasion as guest of honor said that the government under the leadership of CM Ibobi has been setting up District & Session Court in different districts with the objective to strengthen judiciary system of the State while appealing to denizens including law officers of Churachandpur to extend all possible help to the court which inaugurated today.
Attending as functional president, Justice Laxmi Kanta Mohapatra, Chief Justice of High Court of Manipur asserted that the judiciary system of the State has further consolidated with the inauguration of District & Session Court Churachandpur and stressed the need for setting up of civil court in sub-division of every district to deliver quick justice to cases relating with human rights violation which has been occurring every now and then in the State.
He added that efforts are on to renovate old buildings of courts situated in different parts of the State.
Besides Justice of High Court of Manipur, N Kotishwar who also graced the occasion as guest of honor, Chaltoliyan Amo, Chairman of Hill Area Committee; DC Churachandpur; law officers; several renowned advocates; judges and top officials of police were also present in today's inaugural function.
