BJP set to launch membership drive

The BJP is all set to launch a mega country wide membership drive from Nov 1 .
Holding workshops at different places would also mark one of the biggest membership drives of the party ever since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister and Amit Shah assumed the party's president post.
With the declaration of the period from Nov 1, 2014 to March 31, 2015 as BJP membership year, the party president Amit Shah would launch the membership drive at Delhi on Nov 1, State BJP Unit secretary, M Ashwinikumar said.
Speaking to reporters today at the party office located at Nityaipat Chuthek, M Ashwinikumar said that BJP got a total of 17.16 crore votes in the last Lok Sabha election accounting for 31.3 percent of the total votes in India.
All the voters are not necessarily BJP members.
As such, efforts would be made to enrol those sympathisers in the party during the mass membership drive.
The party would utilise different tools of information technology during the drive.
Captains (Pramukh) and co-captain for the drives for all the States and Union Territories have already been appointed, he said while adding that he (Ashwinikumar) has been appointed as the captain for the State and Naba Volcano as the co-pramukh.
Informing that workshops would be held at different places as part of the drive, he said that a workshop for 13 States was held today at Bangalore.
Another workshop would be held at Delhi tomorrow for 13 States in the Northern and Central regions.
Similar workshop would be held at Kolkata on Oct 31 for 9 States in the Eastern and North Eastern regions.
A team of State BJP delegates would be led by party president Th Chaoba at the Kolkata workshop, he said.
Seminars on membership mission would be held in each State from Nov 2 to 7 which are to be attended by the party's National leaders.
Ashwinikumar further demanded a white paper on City Convention which was inaugurated three years back by AICC President Sonia Gandhi and the then PM Dr Manmohan Singh.
He also asked who is responsible for appointment of fake sports certificate holders against the quota of sports persons in police recruitment.
Pointing out that PDS system under the present State Govt is a complete failure, the State BJP leader also asked where all the monthly rice and kerosene allotment to MLAs have gone.
