Imphal, September 27 2016:
Tourism Department had little plans for the media persons who went to cover the World Tourism Day celebration at Mapao Zingsho village, Senapati, today.
Not only did the Department fail to make proper transportation arrangements, they apparently forgot to make sitting arrangements for media persons at the event.
Five media-persons reached the Tourism Department at 8.30 in the morning today to proceed to the venue and cover the event.
Before they departed along with other officials of the department, the media persons urged the officials concerned to arrange a vehicle for their return.
They left for Mapao village after the Director agreed that a vehicle will be provided for their return.
It was a different scenario at the event site.
With no sitting arrangements made, the media persons had to adjudged themselves on available seats.
When they asked the department officials for their seat, the latter gave them some paper printed with the word 'Media' .
With apparently no area to stick the 'media' tag on, the reporters had no other choice but to stand.
Mapao Zingsho village head read out the history of the village during the function.
The department did not deem it necessary to provide related papers to the media persons covering the function.
By the end of the function, when the reporters asked the organisers which vehicle they were to board for their return, nobody had a clue.
After some time, the Director told the officers to send them off on a bus.
The bus rode towards Imphal with only the five media-persons
on board.
