Maintaining that the State Government has failed to fulfill its long pending demands, All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has decided to resume its stir by closing down all 'the National projects in the hill areas of Manipur.
The decision was taken in a consultative meeting of all the constituent units of the union held in Churachandpur College on March 23, said a press release.
The meeting also decided to impose economic blockade from the second week of April in case the Government fails to respond even after the commencement of the said stir.
The student body further said that the meeting also resolved to fight against deletion of Additional English by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur as it is against the interest of the majority of the tribal students whose mother tongue is not recognised by the Board.
Forcing to opt Meetei Mayek in Roman script is tantamount to imposition, the press release said.
