The 50-bedded Hospital at Moreh, which was inaugurated by the then Health Minister L Nandakumar in 2006, has been turned into a Battalion Head Quarter of Manipur Rifles.
The situation was witnessed by a team of Trinamool Congress MLAs led by leader of the party's Legislature wing, Dr I Ibohalbi.
Accompanied by other party MLAs like Maibam Kunjo, Konthoujam Sharat Singh, Th Bishwarjit and O Lukhoi, Dr Ibohalbi went to get a first hand report on the condition of the hospital on August 17. The beds of the hospital were found occupied by personnel of 8th MR.They have also occupied the hospital wards by turning them into barracks.
Interestingly, at present, the hospital is being run without a specialist doctor.
The existing operation theatre is functioning without any gynaecologist surgeon and anesthetist.
As such the people of Moreh are being deprived of the facilities provided in other hospitals.
There are just 8 medical officers and 10 nurses under one Chief Medical Officer in the Moreh hospital.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the inspection visit, MLA Dr I Ibohalbi said that the party would be meeting the State Health Minister with regard to the poor condition of Moreh Hospital and pressed him to ensure at least basic health care facilities to the people of Moreh.
The matter would also be brought up in the next Assembly session, Dr Ibohalbi assured.
After the inspection visit, a new constructed office of Trinamool Congress at Moreh town was inaugurated by Youth Congress President, P Premananda.
