Imphal, July 18 2011:
All Tribal Disables' Union Manipur (ATDUM) has sent a complaint letter to the Chief Secretary against DDOs/CEOs of four hill districts for failing to release monthly salaries since April.
The Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Ukhrul, Chandel, Tamenglong, Kangpokpi and Senapati districts have not released the salaries of the state employees/teachers despite having opened bank accounts as directed by the government, said a press released signed by ATDUM president and administrative secretary Momo Tantanga and Muanching respectively.
The CEOs are planning to release the entitled salaries of employees/teachers of the Autonomous District Councils of Ukhrul, Chandel, Tamenglong, Kangpokpi and Senapati from their respective offices by cash so that they can deduct huge amounts of money from employees as was previously done for the months of January, February and March, it alleged.
The tribal disables' body has asked the Chief Secretary of the state to instruct the DDOs/CEOs and Autonomous District Councils to release the monthly salaries of government employees of the districts so as to mitigate the hardship being faced by the poor employees.
