DESAM, ANSAM organise academic discourse

Academic discourse on 'Manipur: Land and People' was jointly organised by Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) and All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) today at State Guest House, Babupara.
The discourse was divided into two sessions.
Somipam Lungleng and Ratan Longjam moderated each session.
Prof W Nabakumar spoke on 'The Land and the People' while activist Ningth Population and Settlement of Migrants.' Artax A Shimray spoke on 'Migrants, Causes and Impact and suggested remedies' .
Delivering the keynote address Moirangthem Angamba Meitei, President DESAM underlined the urgency to establish a common basis for political and social cooperation
of ethnic based organisations in order to pave way for peaceful and enriching coexistence.
DESAM and ANSAM have affirmed to work in solidarity for common cause making the beginning of a journey to address the historically rooted injustices and search for peaceful coexistence based on just peace.
The solidarity alone cannot withstand the divisive policy of the State if it is not driven by conviction and thirst for truth and justice, he said.
All concerned need to understand the common cultural history, cultural geography and cultural communication to fill the gap among the different communities.
The common root is what we all need to understand and with this mutual understanding, people would be able to face and resolve the contemporary challenges.
As such, the future of the people lies in the collective struggle, he said.
Towards this end, DESAM and ANSAM have organised the discourse, he added.
