IRCS organises one-day awareness programme on COVID-19 at Senapati

Amid the ongoing lockdown, the Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati Branch had organised a one-day awareness programme on COVID-19 at DRDA Hall, Senapati.
The programme was attended by Dr Y Mohen Singh, Chairman, IRCS, Manipur, Dr Koijam Arunkanta, Vice Chairman, IRCS, Manipur and Dr Bankim Chandra, Volunteer Master Trainer, National Level, IRCS, Manipur as the resource persons in the presence of Lalithambigai K, DC Senapati.
At the event, Dr Mohen pointed out the need to fight the pandemic collectively as positive cases of COVID continue to rise in the State, including 1 from Senapati.
The rates of the affected person increase day by day with the continuous arrival of stranded persons from different cities, he said and urged all to strictly adhere to the safety guidelines issued by the Government and experts.
Lalithambigai K, who is also the president of the IRCS, Senapati, in her speech mentioned that with no vaccine for the virus discovered so far, the only method to contain the spread is social distancing and quarantining and asked all to cooperate for the good of all.
District Administration and medical team are putting all efforts to contain the spread of the virus, she said and invited volunteers for assistance in maintaining the quarantine centres set up in the district.
The DC then stated that 120-150 swap tests are conducted daily in quarantine centres and urged all not to panic and maintain physical distancing and proper hygiene to ward off the virus.
The members of the IRCS, Senapati would assist in packing food items on Sunday for around 1,500 returnees who are in different quarantine centres.
