State Works minister, K Ranjit today assured that construction of bridges and improvement of roads started taken up by the Secular Progressive Front government which are yet not completed owing to shortage of funds will be completed at the earliest.
The minister said this during his inspection tour at Longa Koireng under Saitu Assembly Constituency and another bridge across the Nambul river connecting Samurou and Thounoujam known as Moirang Chaoba bridge which were started construction 2004 but remained incomplete.
Ranjit also talked at a meeting at Longa Koireng where the bridge which would be the lifeline of 15 villages located.
Owing to the non-completion of the bridge, villagers of these 15 villages are suffering during the rainy season.
Top officials of the state works department also accompanied the minister in the visit.
He assured the gathering that with the fund from the SPA, government will try to complete the bridge before Christmas this year.
During the talk, Ranjit also said that SPF government under the leadership of the chief minister, O Ibobi, has been taking up various developmental and welfare schemes for bringing balance development between the hills and valley areas.
He came to inspect the construction works personally with the instruction of the chief minister.
As wanted by the villagers another smaller bridge will also be constructed.
After completion of construction of both the bridges, chief minister will be approached for inauguration and handing over to the people, Ranjit added.
Seeking cooperation of the villagers in the completion of the construction of the bridge on time, Ranjit observed that communities residing in the state together cannot be separated by any forces.
The state has more than 2000 year long history of living together by different communities.
Every community should try jointly to strengthen the love bond among the different communities.
As it is not convenient for the chief minister to visit everywhere to share grievances, ministers are touring to every nook and corner of the state, Ranjit revealed.
He also appealed the villagers to shun all hated of the pass and turn toward developmental activities for bringing forward the state.
He also said that efforts are on to complete the construction works of the bridge across the Heilok river with funds from the SPA earmarked during 2009-10 and blacktopping will be taken up on the second phase.
Former minister, Ngamthang Haokip who also accompanied the minister tour said that the bridge across the Heibilok river at Longa Koireng was started construction in 2004 March.
But it was delayed as he lost the election and the current circle MLA did not initiated any action for the completion of the bridge.
Failure to take any initiative by the MLA and considering the suffering of the people, he approached the work minister to look into the matter for early completion of the work.
He also lauded the minister stating that he went round hills and valley areas to look after developmental activities.
Longa Koireng village authority chief W Keishang poured down the suffering of the villagers of 15 villages owing the non-completion of the bridge particularly in the rainy season.
He also complaint of dead of cattle due to the long delay in the completion of the construction works.
