Tamenglong, May 09 2014 :
Joint Forum for Transport Welfare, Tamenglong on Friday announced to intensify the ongoing indefinite Chakka bandh along NH- 37 with the state government fails to give a positive response to the demand of the public for improving the condition of Tamenglong- Khongsang road within 48 hours.
The Forum has been demanding that implementation of developmental work along Tamenglong- Khongsang road should be taken up by BRTF only and no other agencies.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, DM.
Joseph, Secretary of the Forum, said that the intensification of the agitation would include forced closure of all government offices, commercial activities and prevention of officials from attending to their duties.
He also categorically stated that the State Government should be held responsible for any untoward incident that may occur during the course of the intensified Chakka bandh.
The indefinite chaka bandh which started from May 7 midnight has given serious impact on the life of the people in the district with all inter-state bus and daily Tata sumo passenger services remaining off the road.
Construction work on railway tunnel has also reportedly halted for the last two days while the office of the PWD Tamenglong Division office has been locked up since yesterday.
