Imphal, December 07 2013 :
All Tribal Students' Union Manipur-Tombing (ATSUM-T) said it is perturbed to learn the abduction of Shonkholien alias Mark Kom S/o Pumpau Kom the incumbent president of the Kom Students' Union (KSU) by unidentified persons from the treasury office on December 5 at 2:30 pm from Churachandpur district headquarter.
ATSUM-T said the culture frequent of kidnapping of student activist is doing more damage than solving the already degenerated social milieu of the state.
It is obvious that there might be misunderstanding between the kidnappers and the student leader for reasons unknown to the public.
As however, the problem should be amicably settled without resorting to kidnapping or any form of violence.
For all communities irrespective of religion, it is a festive season and home coming of near and dear ones from nook and corner of the world to one's own home especially for Christian brethren to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, ATSUM-T added.
"It is an earnest appeal of the Union to eschew from violence and any form of anti elements especially during Christmas season.
The Union once again appeal to the kidnappers to release the student leader unharmed on humanitarian ground as a step towards peaceful co- existence of all communities," it appealed.
