Imphal, December 07 2013 :
Demanding that Government of Manipur confirm whereabouts of brick farm worker Kangujam Satrajit within December 15, the JAC formed in connection with the disappearance of 65-year old man said failure to trace the individual will compel the JAC to launch intense agitation.
Addressing mediapersons at Manipur Press Club today, JAC president Ak Umesh-kanta said K Satrajit of Tao- bungkhok Awang Leikai in Imphal West left home in the latter part of October this year to work at a brick farm located in Hengbung village of Senapati district.
Going back for the work-site after a brief stay at home for the Ningol Chakkouba festival last month, Satrajit contacted his wife Bheigyabati on November 17 evening from the mobile phone (8014846827) of one of his co-workers namely Surchand of Langthabal telling her to come at the brick farm with some Ngari (fermented fish) .
However, the next day, Surchand called up to enquire whether Satrajit had come home as he was not at the work-site, said the JAC president adding that some family members immediate left for Hengbung on the same day Surchand called.
The brick-farm owner reportedly told the family mem- bers that apparently possessed by ominous spirit incidents of workers disappearing from the work-site used to happen at about every three years.
According to Umeshkanta, the owner informed that disappeared persons often show up later but quoted family members as saying that they had information about a quarrel at the work-site on the evening Satrajit contacted his wife and consequently filed a complaint at Senapati police station on November 18 .
Reiterating the JAC's demand that Government of Manipur provide a clue on satrajit's whereabouts within December 15, Umeshkanta said failure to find Satrajit at the earliest will lead to launching strong State-wide agitation.
