Denouncing the amalgamation of Moibung Khunou Primary School with Khurkhul Number 1 Primary School, a sit in protest was staged by locals of Moibung Khunou, All Manipur Nupi Marup, Moibung Khunou branch, Moibung Khunou Village Committee and Moibung Khunou Primary School guardians and management committee at the school campus yesterday.
Locals of Moibung Khunou decried that the area will face numerous inconveniences if Moibung Khunou Primary School is amalgamated with Khurkhul Number 1 Primary School and urged the authorities concerned to leave the school as it is.

Speaking to media persons, All Manipur Nupi Marup, Moibung branch secretary Heikham Bina said that Moibung Khunou Primary School is the only school established in the area and the only temple where the children go to learn.
She went on to state that the students of Moibung Khunou have to travel over 2 kms to reach Khurkhul if the two schools are amalgamated and added that the parents, who are mostly daily wage earners, would not be able to send their children to the school as they cannot afford van service.
These factors will led the students to quit school eventually, she added.
