Irom Sharmila to appear before Patiala House court today

Imphal, October 29 2014:
Human rights activist Irom Sharmila who has been on fast-unto-death for nearly 14 years today left Imphal for New Delhi where she will be appearing before the Metropolitan Magistrate, Patiala House court, New Delhi tomorrow.
Sharmila who was accompanied by a medical team, two police personnel including one officer and two jail staff members left the state capital for New Delhi by flight in the morning.
She will be produced before the court on October 30 and October 31, sources said.

The human rights crusader has been demanding repeal of the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), 1958 since November 4, 2000 .
The anti-AFSPA campaigner is appeared in the Patiala House court occasionally after she has been charged with attempting to commit suicide under IPC 309 .
If she is found guilty, Sharmila could face up to one year in jail.
Sharmila continued her fast at Jantar Mantar in the national capital in 2006, but the Delhi Police booked her under IPC 309 .
