Imphal, November 24 2015:
Congress has neither lost nor gained anything in the bye-elections to Thongju and Thangmeiband A/Cs and now it will be interesting to see the effectiveness of a good opposition in the State Assembly Sessions, said Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam on Tuesday.
During an interaction with media persons at the Home Minister's residential quarters at Babupara, Gaikhangam however refuted the allegation that his party was using "money and muscle power" in the just concluded bye-elections to Thongju and Thangmeiband assembly constituencies.
He said the BJP's trouncing of Congress in both the constituencies should be a lesson his party should note.

Dismissing the arrival of Modi wave in Manipur in the wake of BJP opening its account in Manipur Legislative Assembly, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that politics in Manipur is different from other States in the country.
He said winning or losing elections in the State had less impact on the fortunes of his party unlike the individual candidates.
He however admitted that the Congress has learned a big lesson from the bye-election in both the constituencies and the reasons of the defeat will be discussed in the CLP review meeting soon, stated Gaikhangam.
On being asked about the unnecessary harassments meted out to media persons by security personnel at the ongoing Sangai Festival, the Deputy Chief Minister said that he will look into the matter soon.
