'Govt to lift ban on appointment of teachers in aided schools'

The Association of SMDCs of 10 Government-Aided Schools of Kangpokpi area hosted a reception ceremony of Education Minister M Okendro and MLA of Kangpokpi Constituency Nemcha Kipgen at Indira Government-Aided Junior High School, Kangpokpi today.
The reception ceremony was attended by MLA of Sugnu Constituency K Ranjit, Deputy Commissioner of Senapati PK Jha, Director of Education (S) H Deleep and other officials of the State Government.
Speaking during the reception ceremony, Education Minister Okendro said that the State Government would lift the ban on appointment of teachers in government-aided schools.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has already given his assent to lifting the ban and it would be tabled at the Cabinet meeting for implementation soon.
There are more than 604 government-aided schools in the State.
The Government would take up all possible measures to develop the aided schools by providing proper grant-in-aid and filling up the vacant teaching posts.
Moreover, the Education Department would seek assistance from PHE Department to provide clean and hygienic drinking water to all schools in the State, the Minister added.
MLA K Ranjit said that all people of the State are citizens of India.
There should be no difference among them on the basis of religion, caste or community.
The Government is committed to take up development works equally in both hills and plains without any discrimination.
He further said that the expansion and development works of IT Road began during his tenure as Works Minister.
More developmental projects could be taken up at Kangpokpi area with people's support and cooperation, Ranjit averred.
MLA Nemcha Kipgen said that she is not a communal leader.
She has been supported by people belonging to different communities of Kangpokpi Constituency.
She appealed to all to take keen interests in education so that they could benefit the best from the Look East Policy of Indian Government, which aims to establish multilateral ties with the Southeast Asian countries.
The Association of SMDCs also submitted a memorandum to the Education Minister during the ceremony urging the State Government to acquire the 10 Government-aided schools of Kangpokpi area and fill up the vacant teaching posts in the schools as soon as possible.
