Bail application rejected

Court of Judicial Magistrate first Class Imphal West -1 has rejected the bail application filed by two accused who were arrested along with a huge quantity of cigarettes, cosmetics and fireworks of foreign origin worth around Rs 1,16,40,000 by the Customs Division Imphal, and remanded judicial custody.
The accused individuals identified as Amarjit Sahu (39) s/ o Lakshmi Sahu of Samastipur Bihar and Ajay Sarawagi (44) s/o Hanuman Prasad of Balaji Niwas, Assam, were produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Imphal West -1 in charge Chief Judicial Magistrate, along with a prayer of remanding them to judicial custody.
The IO of Customs Department Imphal, through its counsel, submitted that the accused persons were arrested with 9,24,000 cigarette sticks, cosmetics and electric fireworks of foreign origin inside a rented godown at Langthabal Mayai Leikai.
On the other hand, the defense counsel of the accused persons filed remand objection and an application for releasing them on bail.
After hearing the submission and going through the case records, the Court rejected the bail application and remanded the accused persons to judicial custody till March 18 .
