With the end of the series of awareness programmes of the Zero Garbage campaign in the Imphal Municipal area, clearance of waste products commenced from today.
Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution minister, Y Erabot today opened the garbage clearance campaign in Wangkhei Kendra which will continue for five days.
He formally announced the start of the social service camp organized by the Genial Club at Lainingthou Awangba ground.
The camp is being participated by around 100 volunteers of the local club, out of whom 40 of them would stay at the camp side during the five day campaign.
Laishram Memcha, councilor of IMC ward no.23, IMC official Dr Arunkumar also took part in the opening of the social service camp.
Lectures on important of cleanliness will be held during night time while social service will be conducted during day time.
Minister Y Erabot, speaking on the occasion, said that the awareness campaign for the Zero Garbage Campaign in IMC has been completed in his constituency.
As many government offices, hospitals and other important installations are located within the Wangkhei constituency, he has taken the issue seriously.
