Imphal, September 26 2010: A PREPAK cadre involved in the 24 March 2004 firing incident in a Thabal Chongba at Heirok part-I was among six underground activists apprehended by police commandos in the last 48-hours.The PREPAK cadre involved in the firing incident in a Thabal Chongba that claimed the lives of two girls and a boy, two and half years back in March 24, 2008 was nabbed from Thoubal Bazar at about 9 pm of Saturday.

He was identified as Moirangthem Itaoba @ Lily @ Puremba @ Rohit (30) son of M Tompok of Heirok Part-I, Heitupokpi Leikai.

A statement of Thoubal Senior SP, Clay Khongsai said that the individual joined the outfit in 1999 through Hatomba Aimol of Pallel Aimol Khun and got basic training at Khontan under Army no.0875 .

On further verification, police came to know that he took part in the shoot out incident in a Thabal Chongba at Heirok Part-II Heitupokpi ground on the night of March 24, 2008.He is in the finance section of the outfit, the statement added.

The statement further identified the arrested KCP (Noyon faction) activist as Khumukcham Binand (30) son of late Kh Amubi of Sambram Leikai Maning Leikai from near YK College on the NH-39 Saturday.

He is working in the finance section of the group.

On the same day, Thoubal police commandos also nabbed a PREPAK activist identified as Khoirom Ibomcha @ Kangba @ Suresh (19) son of Kh Manikhomba of Wangjing Lamding Elangbam Leikai from Wangjing Bazar.

He too is working in the finance section of the outfit.

Imphal East police commandos on Friday apprehended a KCP activist identified as Thounaojam Shyam @ Inao of Nongren Maning Leikai.

A 9 mm pistol recovered from him.

In the follow up action to his disclosure, another activist of the same group identified as Khumanthem Gandhi (44) son of Shamu of Nongren Mayai Leikai was also nabbed, an official report said.

Further on the same day, a woman activist of KCP (MC) identified as Ningombam Thoibi (40) wife of late Goura of Phaknung Mayai Leikai was nabbed by the same team of Imphal east police commandos.

Six demand letters of the group were recovered from her possession.

Official sources further said that she was involved in the hurling of a bomb at the house of one Huirem Bimol, a worker of health and family welfare minister, Ph Parijat on the night of September 23 .
