MLA O Joy inaugurated the newly constructed building of Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai Junior High in a function held at school premises today.
Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, the MLA stressed on the role of guardians and teachers in leading the young minds to the right way.
Maintaining that performance of private schools is still ahead of the Government schools, O Joy emphasised on the need to upgrade and change the way of teaching in Government schools.
Encouraging the students, the MLA announced that he would provide scholarships to the meritorious students of the school from his side.
O Joy also stressed on the need to set up model schools in some selected areas.
Speaking at the function as guest of honour, Education (S) Director M Harekrishna lauded the school management committee for constructing a new building without any help from Department of Education (S) .
It may be mentioned that the school has been constructed with a Rs 2 crore project sanctioned by Union Urban Development Ministry.
ZEO Wangoi M Biramangol, Education (S) Additional Director Hareshwar Goswami and Councillor N Sorojini were also present in the function as guests of honour.
Ward No 8 Councillor Th Nimai presided over the function.
Education (S) Department distributed bags, notebooks and pencils etc to the students.
