AMUCO offers helping hand to orphans

Rendering a humanitarian act, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) extended monetary help to two girls whose mother and brother were killed in a road accident while they were bringing back the dead body of their father on an auto-rickshaw.
A team of the organisation today visited the two girls namely Huidrom Thoibi (12) and her younger sister Nganthoi (8) who are taking shelter in a khas land at Sekmai Mamang Leikai (Parao) following die death of their parents Rakesh (42) and Kanao (32) and younger brother Ibungo (1) who were killed in an unfortunate road accident on April 11 last.
The two girls were extended a sum of Rs 10000.The family originally hails from Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai.
Talking to media persons, finance secretary of Paraokham Development Association Women Society, Lukram Romi who is also an ASHA worker said that Kanao and her son were bringing back the dead body of Rakesh who died from a liver disease on an auto-rickshaw when the vehicle was hit by a speeding truck in front of Tengdongwan brick field on April 11 at around 10 pm.
She said that Kanao and her son died on the spot while Rakesh's cousin and the latter's daughter along with the driver were rushed to Raj Medicity, North AOC after they sustained injuries in the accident.
She informed that the driver and the cousin's daughter have been discharged from the hospital while the cousin is undergoing treatment.
Thoibi is studying Class VI and Nganthoi in Class II.
"Shraddha" ceremony of the three deceased will be solemnized by Paraokham Development Association Women Society and Paraokham Development Association Sekmai tomorrow, Romi said.
AMUCO president Phurailatpam Devan said that the monetary assistance to the two aggrieved girls was extended to provide some relief to them.
He drew the attention of the Government to look into the sufferings endured by the two little girls following the death of their parents and brother.
He also called upon the people to extend assistance to the girls in different forms to ensure that their future are secured.
Advisor of Paraokham Development Association Sekmai, Meihoubam Manoj said that a sum of Rs 3.40 lakh monetary assistance from different organisations for the girls has been received so far.
He said that some organisations expressed desire for providing free education for the girls in Noida.
He informed that a public meeting will be held on April 27 in the locality to explore various ways to secure future of the girls.
He said that the local MLA had mentioned about construction of a house for the two girls.
