Zero garbage campaign to resume

The Zero Garbage Campaign of the Imphal Municipal Council for a clean and garbage free Imphal city which has been stopped since the past months will be resumed, said PDA Chairman, MLA Dr Kh Loken.
Addressing media persons in a press meet held at the conference hall of IMC Dr Loken said that the first phase of the campaign which was halted some time back will be resumed and completed before the upcoming General Election.
The campaign will be dealing with cleaning drains throughout the city this time, he said.
An amount of Rs 3 lakh will be sanction for every ward.
The award money for the most sincere and proper working club which was announced as Rs 5000 will be increased to Rs 10000.However the award money will remain only Rs 5000 if the club is new to participate in the campaign, he said.
He said that many big drains in and around the city is losing their identity due the illegal encroachment by the people around them.
Centre has sanction Rs 102 crore to repair and beautify the nullahs.
The ongoing construction of the Solid Waste Management at Lamdeng will be completed within six months.
As soon as the project is completed, then there will be only water flowing in the various rivers and drains in the city, he said.
MLA Nandakumar, MAHUD Director Geetkumar and IMC Chairperson Rnisana also attended the press meet.
