Three hurt in grenade attack

Imphal, July 08, 2012:
At least three woman including a minor have been injured when some unidentified persons launched a grenade attack at the residence of Pradhan Yendrembam Jiten at Kongpal Laishram Leikai at about 9.10 pm today.
The injured victims have been rushed to JNIMS.
Identities of the victims cannot be ascertained till the time of filing this report.
A hand grenade was discovered near the Sagolmang residence of Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Lokeshore this morning.
The Chinese made hand grenade was found at the entrance gate of Ireima temple complex which is located close to the residence of the Speaker.
It is suspected that the grenade was lobbed there by some unidentified persons though it failed to go off.
The grenade was retrieved by explosive experts of Manipur Police and it was set off safely at Natumching.
On the other hand, another hand grenade lobbed by some unidentified persons exploded at the residence of Imphal East ADC Thoudam Guni (58) at Thoubal Wangmataba at about 11.20 pm yesterday.
However there is no report of any casualty.
In the meantime, one more hand grenade was found at the garage of Yengkhom Joykumar at Kakching Mayai Leikai at about 6 am today.
Notably, Yengkhom Joykumar is the proprietor of NRL oil pump located at Thoubal Haokha.
The grenade which had no pin was retrieved by explosive experts and it was set off safely at Kakching DSA ground.
