As part of the efforts being made to bring about visible changes in the education sector of the state, Education Minister M Okendro today assured setting up of a Higher Secondary School at Keirao Kendra very soon.
The Minister was attending an Award Distribution function for meritorious students of Keirao Kendra, who excelled in Class X, XII and other competitive examinations, at Khannarok Playground as Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Okendro observed that Manipur would become develop only when its people perform their duties with sincerity.
He called upon all the parents and students of the state to follow the footsteps of other parents and students who have excelled in the different examinations with flying colours to make Manipur a bright state in the field of education.

In a state like Manipur, which does not have other resources, human resource development is the most important sector for development, he exhorted.
The recent success of Manipuri students in CBSE Examinations and UPSC examinations has once again showed that Manipur has many bright students and personalities.
The reason of such success is the dedications of civil organisations, teachers and schools as well as the efforts of the students and parents, he added.
While expressing concern over absence of a government higher secondary school in Keirao Kendra, the Minister assured that the people of the constituency that a government Higher Secondary School would be set up very soon.
He also informed that the government is planning to establish at least one residential school in each district of Manipur.
Besides, Centre is planning to provide free education from Pre-Primary to Higher Secondary level and give special focus to aided schools under its Right to Education Act.
MLA, Keirao Kendra Thamarjit Karam; Principal of Standard Roberth English School Ph Landhoni and OC of Iribung PS Md Gaphar also attended the function.
As many as 131 students including Konthoujam Banti, who cleared the UPSC Examination were felicitated with prizes on the occasion.
