UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi is expected to visit the state sometime in November to inaugurate the three multi-storey market-sheds of Khwairamband Keithel, a shopping complex inside the Congress Bhavan, BT road, and a Tribal Market at Checkon.
A source in the MPCC today said that Sonia Gandhi is planning to visit the state in November.
Chief Minister, O Ibobi and MPCC chief Gaikhangam were understood to have been assured by Sonia Gandhi of her proposed visit during their recent visit to New Delhi.
Ahead of her visit, AICC Manipur in-charge Luizihno Falerio is coming to the state on October 16.The date of Sonia Gandhi's arrival in the state is likely to be fixed after Luizihno Falerio visits the state, the source said.
The scheduled visit of Falerio is related to taking a stock of the ground situation in Manipur.
During his stay in the capital, Falerio is also likely to announce the new office bearers of the MPCC approved by the AICC.
Apart from inaugurating the new market-sheds of Khwairamband Keithel, Tribal market and Congress Bhavan Shopping complex, Sonia Gandhi is expected to attend a public meeting which will be arranged by the MPCC at Mapal Kangcheibung.
Consideration for chalking out a tentative programme for the visit of the Congress supremo has started in the MPCC, the source disclosed.
