Imphal, March 29 2015:
Two labourers abducted from different points of Imphal-Tamenglong road by some suspected militants in connection with a monetary demand of Rs one crore have been freed.
Ngariyambam Bidhu (55) of Kyamgei Maning Leikai, Imphal East and YK Daniel (30) of Mayangkhang Ningthoupham, Senapati district reached Kangpokpi at around 10.30 am today.
They were seen off up to some distance by a group of armed persons.
Bidhu was abducted from a place located between Chalwa and Khoikol, around 50 Kms away from Kangpokpi in the night of March 18.YK Daniel was abducted from Thonglan Akutpa, around 26 Kms from Kangpokpi in the same night.
After his release, Bidhu was escorted to his home from Kangpokpi by volunteers of Kyamgei Youth Popular Club (KYPC) and Kyamgei Chaokhat Thourang Nupi Lup.
Speaking to media persons at KYPC community hall, Bidhu said that he was blind-folded and taken to different places by the armed persons together with Daniel.
"Both my hands were also tied", he said.
Most of the time, the armed persons drank alcohol and spoke Kuki dialect.
Both Bidhu and Daniel were given food and they were not subjected to physical assault.
However, they were threatened repeatedly saying that both of them would be killed if the money demanded to contractors/sub-contractors is not given.
Meanwhile, KYPC president M Suranjoy has condemned the act of abducting labourers in the strongest term.
He appealed to all concerned not to make innocent labourers scapegoats while targeting contractors or Government authorities in future.
