Imphal, October 23 2016:
Urging the people to continue supporting the Congress, Chief Minister O Ibobi has today appealed to all to back the Congress party in the coming election in 2017 and ensure that the party is returned to power.
Speaking at a one day political conference of the Congress held at the community hall cum basketball ground at Uripok Achom Leikai and organised by Uripok Block Congress Committee, the Chief Minister said that when the Congress Government came to power, the State was in dire financial strait.
However things started improving after the UPA Government led by the Congress came to power at Delhi, said the Chief Minister and added that the Government is seriously working on a Start-Up policy to help the people find meaningful employment.

The BJP has been blowing a lot of hot air without any substance, said the Chief Minister and added that it is in their DNA to come out with fabricated stories.
All schemes introduced by the Congress led UPA Government have now been renamed after the BJP came to power at Delhi, he derided.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who also addressed the one day political conference said that the Congress party is for the people, of the people and by the people.
Taking digs at the BJP, Gaikhangam said that it would be grossly wrong to talk on the affairs of the hills without ever going there and added that this is something which the Congress never does.
The ban imposed on some Congress Ministers and MLAs in the hill areas is anti-people, he said and added that it is the handiwork of a handful of people with lots of lung power.
In a confident tone, Gaikhangam said that after the 2017 election, the Congress will receive yet another mandate to serve the people.
The BJP led NDA Government has till date not taken the State Government into confidence to divulge the contents of the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM), he said and added that this is unfortunate for the people of Manipur.
Gaikhangam also recalled how the State burned when the NDA Government was in power more than 10 years back and added that even today the BJP led NDA Government has not done anything for the people of Manipur.
When the late Rajiv Gandhi signed a number of accords with other armed groups, there was no question of keeping anything under the wraps, he reminded the gathering.
