Muslim Students Development Committee, Sangaiyumpham, has urged the Lilong Haoreibi College authorities to postpone the union election of the college until the controversy over rejection of one candidate is resolved.
Md Zamir Khan, president, Muslim Student's Development Committee, in a press conference held at Manipur Press Club said one Md Zakir of the college who filed a nomination paper for the post of games and sport secretary was rejected by the College Election Committee on the day of scrutiny on grounds that he failed to submit documents (issued by MU) regarding change of stream from BA to Bsc.
He said Md Zakir Hussain has studied in the college as a BA student till 6th semester.
He changed his stream to Bsc some month back.
In the 24 point rule and regulation of College Election provided by the Election Authority of the College, submission of documents issued by Manipur University is not mentioned.
Also, his opponent was announced the victor of the election without a signature of the rejected candidate.
Md Zamir Khan said College Election Authority should look into the matter and postpone the union election for some time.
