Unidentified woman found dead at Nongren

Imphal, October 23 2016:
An unidentified woman, suspected to be in her mid twenties, was found dead early morning today at Nongren Mamang Chingdum Macha under Lamlai police station.
A reliable source said that some people who were out gathering firewood came across the lifeless body.
The spot where the body was found is located about half a kilometre from Nongren village and 2.5 km from Lamlai police station.
An injury mark was found on the head of the victim and it is suspected that the woman was clubbed to death with a heavy object sometime last night.
After the matter was reported, a team from Lamlai police station led by SDPO A Pramesh arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area and waited for the arrival of a forensic team.
Later a team of state forensic expert team arrived at the spot and conducted full inquest of the body and nearby area in the presence of a Duty Magistrate.
Locals who gathered at the spot from the nearby villages failed to identify the body and they suspected that she might be from some other places.
The victim is suspected to be around 25 years of age, around 5 feet tall, was wearing navy blue jeans, black coloured full sleeved T shirt and a ladies footwear.
The body was later picked up by a team of Lamlai police station after the inquest and deposited at JNIMS morgue for identification and post mortem.
A case has been registered at Lamlai police station.
Meanwhile the Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long has strongly condemned the murder of the girl and appealed to the concerned not to repeat such acts in the future.
