New Delhi, June 16 2012:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has extended monetary aid to families of the martyrs of June 2011 mass movement.
Assistance in the form of cash was distributed during a simple function held at the Kwakeithel office of AMUCO today.
The function was presided by AMUCO president KT Rehman and advisor Likmabam Tompok.
AMUCO provided monetary assistance to the families of Laitonjam Gulsan of Sagolband Meino Leirak and Ksh Goldie who were martyred in the historic mass movement for integrity of Manipur.
Monetary assistance was also given to Sorokhaibam Sobita who was made a physically challenged woman due to injuries she sustained during the movement.
Speaking at the occasion, AMUCO general secretary NC Moduchandra recalled that the historic movement was triggered by the three words "without territorial limits" which were inserted in the ceasefire agreement signed between Government of India and NSCN-IM on June 14, 2001 .

People came out to the streets in huge multitude and registered an unprecedented mass protest against the Government of India's decision to validate the ceasefire agreement without territorial limits.
In the course of the movement, 14 people were killed due to firing by security forces on June 18, 2001.The death toll reached 18 as four more were martyred in the subsequent days.
Much ahead of the Bangkok Declaration of 2001, AMUCO had organised the largest ever mass rally in the history of Manipur on August 4, 1997 for the cause of Manipur's age-old integrity.
Since then, AMUCO has been providing monetary assistance to the families of the martyrs every year on June 16, Modhuchandra said.
KT Rehman said that the historic event of June 18 happened on the last day of the 60 hours state-wide bandh called by AMUCO in protest against the Bangkok Declaration.
Today too, AMUCO stands firm for the collective Manipuri identity, territorial integrity and unity, Rehman asserted.
