As a part of the ongoing celebration of 4 years of the BJP-led Government in the State, Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh today launched Health and Nutrition Campaign at City Convention Centre in Imphal.
The campaign which is being organised as a part of Prime Minister's Poshan Abhiyan (PM's Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment) aims to make a holistic approach to create awareness for health and well being among the people.
Speaking at the launching function as chief guest, Joykumar said, with the completion of 4 years of citizen centric governance, the State Government has been able to achieve advancement in different sectors.
Stating that the Government is committed to giving maximum benefits to the people, he said, many new schemes have been launched and implemented for development and welfare of the State and the people.
While acknowledging the 'fact' that many developmental programmes and schemes are yet to reach places in the interior parts of the State, he said that making people aware of the programmes and schemes is important and a priority of the Government.
The authorities concerned of the Government Departments should connect with the people to deliver the benefits of the schemes.
The Go to Hills & Go to Village missions are able to reach maximum number of people with many welfare schemes.
He lauded the Health & Family Welfare and Social Welfare Departments for their efforts in reaching out to the people.
The health and nutrition campaign is of vital importance which will make the society healthy, he added.
Social Welfare Minister Okram Henry Singh, while speaking at the function said various programmes and schemes have been implemented for health and wellbeing of pregnant mothers and children.
Special programmes for differently abled persons have also been launched and implemented, he added.
Advisor to Chief Minister (Health) Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh also spoke on the importance of attaining a healthy society for enabling the State to become developed.
The campaign was jointly organised by the Health & Family Welfare Department and the Social Welfare Department.
Anganwadi workers and helpers, healthcare workers and students participated in the campaign.
Altogether 23 stalls of the departments catering various services were opened at the campaign.
