AMFA Sr Women's Football : YWC, MPSC register comprehensive wins

YWC, Langthabal and Manipur Police Sporting Club (MPSC) kicked off their 11th AMFA Sr Women's Football League campaign with emphatic wins at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong today.
In today's first match and tournament's second, YWC romped to a 7-1 win against WFA, Kakching as T Thoibisana and H Silky ripped apart the WFA defence line on multiple occasions en route to their doubles.
YWC attacked from the start and were 6-0 ahead till the break as Linda Kom struck a freak first minute goal to open the floodgate before T Thoibisana opened up her account three minutes later.
Y Laxmi made it 3-0 for the team in the 20th minute before H Shilky hit a brace (38', 40'+1') and T Thoibisana completed her double (40'+2') to take the game far beyond WFA's reach.
YWC rested back for a while after the break till Basina handed the team's final in the 59th minute.
WFA, who reeled under huge pressure for the majority of the game, grabbed the consolation goal in the 74th minute through Kh Bhumika.
MPSC thrash AMMA FC 4-0
In the second match of the day staged at the same venue, second half surge earned MPSC a thumping 4-0 win against AMMA FC, Andro.
Both the teams started the game cautiously and despite MPSC enjoying a slide edge in terms of possession and scoring chances the first half ended goalless.
The game however tilted sharply right after the break as MPSC entered with more purpose and broke the deadlock two minutes into the second half (42').AMMA FC, stunned by the lead, started playing in a more defensive way until W Kanchan had her second in the 71st minute to add more misery to AMMA FC.
MPSC forwards continued to press and it was in the 74th minute that L Sanathoi struck the team's third before Naocha banged in the final nail in the very last minute (80') leaving no chance for AMMA FC's comeback.
ICSA will play YWC next on March 14 at 8 am at the same venue before ESU take on MPSC at 2.15 pm the same day.
