The United Committee, Manipur (UCM) has called for a mass court arrest on August 14 demanding immediate and unconditional release of AMSU leaders and protesters now in jail.
The UCM appealed to the people of Manipur to turn up and join the mass court arrest.
Blaming the Centre for the June 18 and its subsequent movement against the ceasefire extension to Manipur, UCM said all including old and young took part in the movement and 18 persons have sacrificed their lives.
So only some student leaders and some civilians could not be blamed for the spontaneous uprising, it said.
Stating that its closure of Government offices and blockade of Government vehicles are still continuing it said that mass sit-in-protest will be held in Bishnupur tomorrow while the same will be held in Imphal West on August 12.The UCM also appealed to all to celebrate the Patriots Day on August 13.Mass sit-in-protests were held all over Thoubal today to demand unconditional release of AMSU leaders and other protestors who were arrested in connection with the anti-ceasefire agitation.
The dharnas were staged as part of the line of action announced by UCM to pressurize the Government to release the protestors.
UCM members and leaders visited the spots where the protests were held.
Meanwhile students have decided to attend schools and colleges on August 12 even if the day is Sunday to attend the dharna called by the United Committee Manipur.
The decision was taken during a meeting of about 300 representatives of schools, colleges and Manipur University at DM Science Hall today.
The meeting also decided that the students should extend full support to the mass court arrest on August 14 in support of the demand for immediate release of AMSU leaders and other protesters now in jail.
In a statement the AMSU appealed to all students to join the dharna on Sunday in Imphal West.
JAC 14 Clubs Sagolband, New Cachar Road will organize a programme on August 12 at Loukham Leirak Welfare Association ground to pay floral tribute to the 18 martyrs and stage an all community, sit-in-protest demanding release of the arrested students and protesters without any condition.
