A team of state MLAs who are still in New Delhi will be meeting the Union home minister LK Advani and other Central leaders tomorrow to pressurize them not to dissolve the state Legislative Assembly.
According to reports reaching here, the state MLA team will be led by former chief minister Radhabinod Koijam and will include another former CM, RK Dorendro, and ex-deputy chief minister Dr L Chandramani.
In the meantime, another batch of MLAs who had been staying in New Delhi since the beginning of the anti-ceasefire agitation in Manipur has returned to Imphal.
Three MLAs, M Kunjo, Dr L Jatra, and P Achou reached Imphal by the Calcutta flight this afternoon, while three more MLAs, including Dr Nimaichand Luwang, M Manihar and K Tomba returned by the Delhi flight.
BJP MLA Col H Bhuban, who went to Delhi recently accompanied the second group.
It may be mentioned that another group of twelve MLAs had returned to Imphal on August 2 last.
Sources among the MLAs who returned today said a positive response was expected from the Union home minister and other Central leaders to their plea not to dissolve the 7th Manipur Legislative Assembly during the proposed meeting tomorrow.
It may be mentioned that Union home minister Advani had recently affirmed that the Assembly, currently under suspended animation would be dissolved after Parliament passed the statutory resolution approving imposition of President's Rule in the state.
