Kangpokpi, July 30 2017:
Deeply disappointed with the statement of Chief Minister, N.Biren Singh over the alleged controversial National Sports University site after his inspection of the location today, village authority of L Tangnaum (Haraothel) has shown its strong disapproval of the Chief Minister’s statement .
The VA said that villagers of L Tangnaum (Haraothel) will strongly oppose the plans of the State Government .
H Vaiphei, chief of L Tangnaum village said that despite of their polite approach to resolve the issue, the decison of the Chief Minister to invite the Prime Minister to lay the foundation stone of the Sports Varsity is not only unfortunate but a discriminatory on the part of the BJP Government in Manipur .
"I have been sincerely drawing the attention of the State Government to accommodate my sentiment over the issue several times but it has always been brushed aside and this is the key factor for the controversy assuming such a proportion today," said the chief .
He reiterated that the villagers of L Tangnaum are not against the establishment of the Sports Varsity but if any portion of their land is to be affected, the Government should follow due process of law and go for land acquisition which has been completely ignored .
Accusing the State Government of playing with the emotions of the people, H Vaiphei elaborated that the Government had stealthily allotted 325.60 acres of land to the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, by issuing an allotment order which include 137.62 acres of village land of Haraothel, now L Tangnaum under Dag No.1 of village No 47-Koutruk.
